The St. Louis Cure lost to crosstown rivals Gateway United in a preseason friendly. Robbie Findley scored the lone Cure goal, but the Cure ended up just short, despite dominating most of the play. Cure GM/Coach Kirk Lodes, "Obviously, the play was a bit ragged. The guys are still getting into playing shape. But despite the loss, I saw many things which make me quite optimistic. Gateway is a great team and we knew that coming into the match. But we held our own; we proved we can play with the best of them." In a closed-door scrimmage held after the preseason match, Robbie Findley added another tally to his preseason mark. In addition, Javier Morales had a goal and assist and fellow Argentine Fabian Espindola chipped in his first goal in the preseason.
